A Dream Honeymoon | FINALÉ

Day 14: A memory that will last a lifetime …

The penultimate day.

A second day waking up to that amazing view and that sound of the falls. Would that ever get boring? We headed up to the hotel buffet to fill up for the morning.

We then walked along the water again to the horseshoe falls and beyond to the Power Station – we got an audio tour around. As much as I’ve already forgotten, it was so fascinating and great to see. We would definitely recommend the experience. The photos probably explain it better than I could. Part of the Power Station Experience is to walk down the underground tunnel. The tunnel was amazing and it felt surreal walking down it and coming out at the falls – another very wet experience!!

Afterwards, we walked around the shops on the main hill near the hotel and popped into the Niagara Brewing Company Café as we had a free beer tasting coupon from the hotel. Not the beers I would usually drink but all good to try. One was even called honeymoon!! We stayed in the café for a lovely burger for lunch.

To try walk off some of the food and beer, we walked around the gift shops to look for any souvenirs and then tried to find a shop that would sell a small padlock for the suitcase that the zip got broken on our way to NYC. We managed to finally find one in one of the drug stores that seemed such a long walk from the hotel!

We also ended up buying one more thing. Something that has changed our lives. A pregnancy test. And it was POSITIVE! We were speechless … for a long time. We honestly couldn’t believe we were so lucky. And to find out literally looking out onto the most amazing view. Wow.

After spending a while processing and not able to stop smiling, we enjoyed the fireworks above the falls out of our bedroom window and then headed out to Hard Rock Café for tea. It was connected to the hotel so we didn’t have to walk for which was nice. And my first meal out with a mocktail, first of many! I enjoyed some yummy yummy chicken and steak fajitas and Dan had a big burger. A different sort of night but nothing less than perfect.

What a day. My heart is full.

Day 15: Home time …

The day we weren’t looking forward to was finally here. Where we’d have to pack up and come back home to face reality. Although now slightly exciting!

We had another buffet brekky and then got into a cab to head to the airport. Everything was running relatively smoothly but unfortunately the plane did set off an hour late – they were defrosting the wing … not something you want to see outside of your plane window! The flight was okay. I couldn’t sleep and was very restless. I watched Barbie and cried. Dan fell asleep and started snoring SO loud! But we eventually got to Dublin, it was about 15 minutes until our connecting flight was meant to leave. We rushed to the gate and the woman told us we were too late and had to go to the main desk and they’ll book us onto another flight. We were meant to just wait a couple of hours for this flight but it kept getting delayed and delayed. 8 hours of sitting, waiting, feeling sick, exhausted. It was when there was loads of snow over in England and the snow on the runways at Manchester is why it was delayed. I know 8 hours is enough, but it felt a hell of a lot longer. Luckily when we landed in Manchester, the snow wasn’t bad and the roads were fine to drive home.

We eventually got home probably about 12 hours later than we should’ve done. A long, exhausting day but we were still on a high.

A dream honeymoon and a dream come true found out when we were there. We really felt like the luckiest people.
